are aligned at the aft fuselage. Add triangu- lar balsa braces to the firewall and fuselage side. However, do not glue the fuselage sides at the tail yet. Attach the fuel tank to the 1⁄8-inch ply support. I usually attach it with multiple rubber bands. Make a pushrod from 3⁄32-inch wire and
1⁄4-inch square spruce and attach it to the bellcrank along with the leadout wires. In- stall the tank and bellcrank assemblies by gluing the ply supports to the cardboard supports on the insides of the fuselage. Now glue the fuselage sides together at the tail. Note that the forward end of F4 is scored and folded. Glue F4 in place to cover the bottom aft fuselage. Be sure to bring fuel tubing fill and overflow lines out during all covering operations.
The bellcrank and fuel tank are attached to ply supports. Top fuselage box sections F1 and F2 are in place. The cutouts are for weight savings. Cardboard bulkheads C, D and E are added to the fuselage top and held with a single centerline balsa stringer.
holes and install blind nuts on the back side. Drill a hole for the fuel tubing exit. Drill two holes and install blind nuts for the removable cowl hold down. These holes must align with the holes in the removable cowl ply back plate C1.
Lay the right fuselage side flat on your work table and glue the firewall to it, mak- ing sure they are perpendicular. When dry, glue fuselage piece F3 in place, which braces the assembly. Glue the left side of the fuselage to A, making sure the pieces
Glue F1 and F2 in place to the top fuselage to complete the box section. Glue two C bulkheads and two E bulkheads together. Glue the C, D and E bulkheads to the top fuselage. The C bulkheads are canted aft. Add a 1⁄8 × 1⁄4 inch stringer down the center- line of C, D and E. Cover bulkheads C through E with D2. Add bulkhead F and G and add a 1⁄8×1⁄4 inch stringer down the cen- terline of E, F and G. Cover bulkheads E, F and G with D3. Add B and cover A and B with D3.
Glue the windshield piece W1 in place. The windscreen is made from thin manila folder cardboard with a 1⁄8 × 1⁄4 inch balsa strip with beveled ends glued down the back centerline for support. The cowl is built up from 1⁄2-inch balsa sheet and carved to shape. The top half is
