he GY-20 Minicab was designed by Yves Gardan as a low cost aircraft that could be built and maintained relatively inexpensively and was easy to fly. The prototype first flew in 1949 with certification following a few months later. The Minicab was built in limited production by
Constuctions Aéronautiques du Béarn (CAB), a company founded by Gardan and Max Laporte. With its side-by-side seating and tip-up canopy for cockpit access, it also proved popular with potential homebuilders through the 1950s.
