38 Product News Noise-reducing air intake grille on show
EBM-PAPST will be showcasing its noise- reducing air intake grille, FlowGrid, to visitors at this year’s Facilities Show, on stand P1700, hall 2 (Energy and Environment), which takes place at ExCeL in London from 17-19 June.
As well as displaying FlowGrid, the firm will
be offering free site surveys to showgoers to see how its EC fans can help them save on their building’s energy consumption. The new FlowGrid fan grille fits easily onto the air inlet side of axial or centrifugal fans, dramatically reducing noise emissions and minimising disturbing low frequency tones, without compromising the efficiency of the equipment.
Tested under strict laboratory conditions, FlowGrid has been proven to reduce both blade-passing noise and overall noise levels in a variety of hvac units, including air handling units, condensers and heat pumps. For example, fitting FlowGrid within a central air handling unit, was shown to reduce overall noise by 3.3dB(A) and cut blade- passing noise by 9dB(A). ebm-papst
Hitachi launches new Hi-Toolkit software
HITACHI Air Conditioning Europe has released its new web-based chiller selection software, Hi-ToolKit for Industry, which complements its existing domestic heating and commercial air conditioning selection software. It is designed as a technical specification and financial tool for air conditioning professionals.
Once connected to the Hi-ToolKit for Industry server, users can select the most appropriate chiller unit and create a broad technical and financial proposal for customers, or select an existing project. To ensure the most appropriate chiller unit is specified for each project, an internal simulation provides solutions covering all Hitachi Samurai chiller configurations, installation and design conditions. Using the specified project design conditions and year-round weather data for the site location, the software will provide capacity as well as EER, ESEER and IPLV performance figures and estimate total seasonal performance and operational costs. TOSHIBA Air Conditioning has introduced a new powerful and versatile control and monitoring system called Black Pear.
The system connects directly to the hvac control bus, providing instant connectivity to Building Management Systems and overcoming the need for a central controller and separate interface. Its built-in LCD display gives field engineers local control over units and enables fast and accurate commissioning following installation with USB-based software. It can also be used on systems with a central control for added flexibility. It is compatible with all major communications systems, enabling virtually universal application for Toshiba air conditioning equipment with all types of Building Management Systems. When the controller is powered up, it scans the network to identify connected units. The local keypad can be used to directly control all indoor units within a building. In the event of a BMS failure, this feature is very valuable as it maintains communication across the network, enabling individual units to be controlled. A single Black Pear module can connect up to 64 indoor units.
