Training Ltd has taken delivery of a Volvo DD25w for its academy based at Fenny Compton, Warwickshire
from Volvo CE’s utility dealer SM Plant Ltd.
Established four and a half years ago Apple Construction Training Ltd offers a full and comprehensive training service for the construction industry and covers CPCS training and testing on all plant categories. In order to provide a comprehensive training service the company has a mix of owned equipment and equipment on long term hire and up until recently had a double drum tandem roller belonging to the latter.
“We were persuaded to opt for the Volvo roller thanks to the operating lease promotional offer made by SM Plant,” says Managing Director Kim Bendzak, who calculates that her company will be making a saving of around £40 per week leasing the machine rather than hiring it.
The Volvo DD25w double drum compactor weighs in at 2.6 tonnes and features a drum width of 1.2 metres featuring dual frequencies operating at either 55Hz or 67Hz for optimal impact and delivering nominal amplitude of 53 mm. A pressurized water feed system is directed via four nozzles per drum working in conjunction with spring loaded, self adjusting urethane wipers. The DD25w affords excellent visibility to the drum edges forward and backward for the machine operator. The machined drum surface with radiused and chamfered edges produce a profes- sional quality finish on each job and a closed loop hydrostatic drive system provides seamless direction changes and a maximum speed of up to 10 kph.
Apple Construction Training Ltd offers the complete range of training and testing needed for any construction company, large or small, as well as vocational training for all industrial and commercial organisations. The company offers CPCS, NPORS and in-house certification. They are also a CSCS Prometric Touchscreen Testing Centre and are one of a handful of regional EWPA NVQ accredited providers, meaning candidates can achieve an NVQ in one day! They also have funding contracts with local colleges enabling some training and NVQs to be provided Free Of Charge. They also offer all H&S training required for the safe running of day to day businesses.
