From Gliere to Vaughn Williams, Dilworth to Tate, Van der Roost to Balmagas, a variety of music will fill the concert hall as the WSMA Middle Level State Honors Project marks its 20th
year. Dedicated
students from across the state are scheduled for April auditions with aspirations to represent their school in this year’s choir, orchestra or band. Audition results will be reviewed by the selection commit- tee, with results letters and invitations to be mailed in early June. Selection committee members include of Middle Level State Honors Chair Les Sandberg of Reedsburg, Chair-Elect Chris Gleason of Sun Prairie Patrick Marsh Middle School; Orchestra Coordinator Tim McCollum of Marshfield and Choral Coordinator Carol Dahle of Hudson Middle School. Brad Thew of Viroqua High School has accepted the band coordinator position.

Middle Level State Honors staff will meet at the Wisconsin Cen- ter for Music Education in Waunakee on Friday, July 25 for their traditional summer retreat. The retreat provides an opportunity to review music, staff duties and expectations, prepare student mail- ings, preview the student event schedule and network with fellow staff members.
Rehearsals will be held on Friday, October 31 at Waunakee High School. The Middle Level State Honors Concert will be held at the Marriott Conference Center in Madison beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 1.

WSMA High School State Honors Music Project
Over 1,600 students auditioned for the 2014 WSMA High School State Honors Music Project. Congratulations to students and teachers for their commitment to this project and musical excellence. Regardless of the decision made by the selection committee, WSMA wishes to thank all students, parents and music teachers for taking the initiative to prepare for these highly competitive auditions.
