June 16-17 – Developing Music Literacy & Musicianship Carol Krueger
This workshop will present real world concepts to implement a sound before symbol approach to teaching music literacy – an approach that will help students learn to read music from the inside out.
June 16-17 – WCDA Workshop
Release the stresses of the academic year, rekindle your passion and rejuvenate your connection with your peers throughout Wisconsin. This workshop is designed for all choral directors, regardless of choir type or experience level. Participants will discuss best practices, music reper- toire selection and network with peers on a variety of subjects and ideas through small break out sessions and much more!
June 18-19 – Kodály In-Depth – Prisha Gustina
This workshop looks at Kodály methods and applications for new teachers and/or fresh materials for teachers with experience. It will be comprised of songs, games and activities that will “prepare, present and practice” musical concepts. Participants will leave with many activities to utilize in their classrooms.
June 19-20 – Danielson Framework & CMP Chris Gleason
Comprehensive Musicianship Through Performance (CMP) is a planning process that helps teachers explore the elements of meaningful music performance, skills, knowledge and affect, and integrates those elements into student-centered teaching plans. This workshop will explain how the CMP process can help guide you through the Danielson Framework and enhance your own teaching style.
June 23-24 – It’s All About the Kids, Curriculum, Pedagogy and Scheduling Considerations James Sewrey
This two-day workshop will deal with the overall objective of “In-depth thinking and intellectual understandings about an instrumental music education program in the realm of an educational curriculum” from the viewpoint of a teacher with 63-years of experiences in and outside of the classroom as a music educator at all levels of instruction, and in the music industry field as a clinician.
June 23-27 – Comprehensive Musicianship Through Performance, UW-Eau Claire
Experience the energy of creative, passionate K-12 music teachers, new and veteran, instrumental, general and vocal, all in one place. The CMP project has inspired Wisconsin teachers for nearly 40 years and is sweep- ing the nation. Learn all about CMP and how it can transform your work!
June 23-27 – Guitar Class – Julie Goldberg (in partnership with VanderCook College of Music)
An ideal course for music teachers who want or need to play the guitar. Basic accompaniment techniques
and fundamentals of the instrument will be addressed. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to perform simple songs, accompany singers, and teach beginning guitar. No guitar experience is necessary!
June 30-July 1 – SmartMusic Learning Software for Band, Orchestra & Vocal, Levels 1 & 2 Leigh Kallestad
These courses will give teachers an introduction and working knowledge of the SmartMusic Learning software and SmartMusic grade book. Topics include navigating SmartMusic, exercises, repertoire, setting up a grade book, schedul- ing assignments and more. Workshop handouts and several class projects are provided for each participant.

July 11 – Dalcroze Eurhythmics Overview Kathy Thomsen
Spend a week exploring the methods of Orff, Kodály, Dalcroze and Gordon in the general music classroom, as well as other early childhood techniques. These single-day workshops will give an overview of each of these music education approaches and will include demonstration and discussion of classroom applica- tions with practicing teachers. Register for a single day, multiple days or the entire week.
July 11-17 – Dalcroze Eurhythmics for Music Educators Kathy Thomsen
Spend four days delving into the movement-based Dalcroze approach. Morn- ing will be primarily for participants themselves as adult musicians. Some of the Dalcroze subjects – beat, meter, accent, dynamics, phrase, measure shape, binary and ternary beats, polyrhythms – will be explored through eurhythmics, solfege and improvisation, the three intertwining branches of the Dalcroze work. Afternoons will be primarily devoted to pedagogy and teaching.
