RECOMMENDED Acer’s laid back approach to All-in-One

COMBINING THE worlds of All-in-One (AiO) desktop computers and tablets, Acer has launched two new touch screen products as part of its new AiO range. The Acer Android AiO DA223HQL and Acer Aspire Z3-600 both feature a built- in battery, which is designed to offer the same mobility as a tablet or smartphone. The battery is said to last up to two hours with Wi-Fi on and video playing. Both also have a lay-flat

design, which means that the Full HD 10-point touch screen can be tilted backwards to be used like a standard tablet device. The Android AiO DA223HQL, true to its name, runs on the Android operating system, and has an edge-to-edge Full HD screen with wide viewing angles – making it suitable

to be used by multiple users at once, for example when playing a game. When users wish to use it

alone, the DA223HQL can also store up to five individually customised accounts, with personalised apps and settings. With MHL connectivity, the device can also transfer smartphone content to a larger display, or it can be used as a second Windows 8 touch monitor thanks to Windows 8 certification. The Aspire Z3-600

features an integrated battery and lay-flat design, with a 21.5-inch Full HD 10- point touch screen. The Windows 8 machine also has an ambient light sensor that aims to automatically optimise the screen’s display to adjust to changing lighting conditions, and is assisted by

170-degree IPS viewing angles. Audio is provided by Dolby Home Theatre and the speakers are developed by the home audio equipment specialist Harman Kardon. With Aspire Link, the Z3- 600 can be connected with HDMI-like speed through a USB 3.0 cable, meaning file transfers should be faster

The lay-flat design of the devices means that the screen can be used like a tablet

when connecting a small- screen device. The Acer Android DA223HQL and Aspire Z3- 600 All-in-One desktop computers will be available from March. The RRP for the DA223HQL is £399.99 and the Z3-600 is priced from £479 to £549 depending on hardware specification.
