A new contract, to service laundries at more than 60 sites across the UK for both MariaMallaband and its sis- ter company Countrywide Care, continues JTM's growth in the care and social housing sector with four con- tract wins worth around £600,000 in the last six months. MariaMallaband Care

Group, which runs 72 homes for the elderly, for disabled people and for autistic resi- dents, appointed JTMService to ensure its laundry facilities operate at peak performance and are energy efficient. James Burgan, commer-

cial director of Maria Malla- band Care Group, said: "JTM Service has a really wide range of experience in the care sector and demon- strated the attention to detail on customer care we expect. We were particularly im- pressed with the account management, speed and quality of service together with the company's sustain- ability and corporate social responsibility credentials." Founded in Leeds in 1983

by MD John Middleton, JTM Service provides laundry fa- cilities and services formore

than 100 social housing providers and 800 care homes from the Scottish Borders to the Midlands. Maria Mallaband, which is

growing organically, aims to build 10 new care homes a year. The company has four sites currently in develop- ment with completion due early in 2014. Burgan added: "Now the turnaround of the Countrywide Care portfolio is

starting to mature, we are gradually negotiating the freehold purchases of those assets. The future is to be able to pick up four or five distressed homes a year and repeat the formula. This is all achieved by choosing the right partners to grow with - companies such as JTM Service who fit into our val- ues." www.jtmservice.co.uk

Gum-removal system‘transforms’ shopping centres

Gum-removal expert Gumwand has recently sup- plied its newmachines to two shopping centres and the Olympic site in Stratford in amove to eliminate the perennial problemof gum litter, and significantly im- prove the visitor experience. Chris Thomas, key account

director at Cleanevent Group, said: “The shopping centre in Stratford, for exam- ple, had a major issue with chewing gumlitter. People get rid of their gumas soon as they step off the tube, and instead of looking for a bin, they throwit on the ground. It was leaving an unsightly

and unhygienic trail, yet to re- move it had been expensive and disruptive. The new Gumwand has solved all that. It’s going to be aworld- beater.”

Gumwand is an easy-to-

use, portable solution that re- quires no generator or trailing cables. It’s hand-held and uses steamand ‘green’ deter- gents to clean surfaces - and removal is claimed to cost less than 1p per piece of gum. Thomas continued: “The Gumwand teamhas been very professional and true to theirword - the product did exactly what it said itwould.” www.gumwand.com
