AROUND THE INDUSTRY
AIRTIGHT | The studio behind last month’s Murdered: Soul Suspect has been closed just weeks after the title launched. This news follows a string of
losses for the company – it had to lay off 14 members of staff in April, while Kim Swift who created Quantum Conundrum left to work at Amazon Game Studios in the same month.
CLIFF BLESZINSKI | The Gears of War developer has come out of retirement. Bleszinksi is working on a
free-to-play shooter called Project BlueStreak at new start- up studio Boss Key Productions, based in North Carolina. This is the first gaming
project he has worked on since he left Epic Games in October 2012.

The Finnish games company has hired another former Rovio executive. The firm has picked up Phillip Hickey, who has left his position as vice president of marketing at the Angry Birds studio to work as VP of marketing and communications at Seriously. It has also brought in two
new advisors – Dan Romanelli, founder and president of Warner Bros Worldwide Consumer Products, and Ujjal Kohli, co-founder and CEO of mobile firm Rhythm New Media. “It takes a blend of hard work
and creative inspiration to build a property that can grace the world stage,” said Romanelli. “I’m impressed with the DNA of the Seriously team and excited about the opportunity they have to build mobile first entertainment brands as audiences migrate to smartphones and tablets.”
