Business Profile

Some projects Red Viking is/has been involved in:

The management and co-ordination of all rail works throughout the project life for the design and build of a hotel and shopping complex above Wembley Central station while still operational for Bowmer & Kirkland.

Crossrail Ilford depot for VolkerFitzpatrick to produce several key documents including construction phase plan, emergency response plan, site induction and to assist in pre-construction preparedness. Red Viking is set to produce all safe system of works packs for Volkerfitzpatrick works on the project for the next three years.

a PM MOTE which can link to the mesh network.

innovation as part of the selection criteria.

Building upon the team’s extensive experience within rail, security and wireless communications, Red Viking has developed a number of potential innovative solutions which will benefit the UK rail sector and other markets.

Product focus

The E-MOTE Red Viking’s first monitoring product. A MOTE deployment can tell you both where and when poor air quality has occurred, in a way that is not possible with traditional techniques. Originally the MOTE device was designed from the ground up to be a low-cost, low-power consumption environmental quality monitoring device that allows data to be recorded at a high spatial and temporal resolution and accessed in real time.

3x gases, noise, heat, humidity can all be monitored simultaneously from each unit and the company is also developing

The MOTE device is small enough to be placed on existing furniture in an unobtrusive manner, unlike other multi- parameter environmental pollution sensors. This allows the MOTE to detect the levels of pollutants that the public and employees are actually exposed to, rather than a misrepresentative reading which may be given by larger units set back from roadsides and pedestrian walkways. The only restriction on the placement of an MOTE device is that it is preferably placed above 2.5m from the ground in public areas to avoid vandalism. The physical size of this device means that many can be placed branching out to gain a much more detailed understanding of the spatial and temporal variation in air quality at that location than is possible with any other type of monitoring equipment. With the success of the MOTE on highways in Liverpool, the Medway and the North East, Red Viking has now introduced the MOTE into the rail industry on a trial at a Network Rail station. Due to its compact size and unobtrusiveness the system can easily be introduced onto and around stations, depots, tunnels, SSSI’s etc.

Plug and play Red Viking believes that, wherever possible, Plug and Play technology should be used – the basis for its bridge/structure impact system. This will significantly improve quality and cost-efficiency, as well as reducing the construction time on site. Its greatest benefits come from standardisation and repetition of elements of the works that can be constructed off-site and in workshop/ factory conditions. Within the challenging and varying environments that it works in, the company integrates health & safety and encourages everyone involved to work

Plan and install under track crossings at several locations within the Crossrail outer west area with VGC then to undertake track monitoring in line with the technical data and NR standards.

Install a temporary environmental monitoring system within a large station in advance of design works pre construction for Network Rail.

Some of Red Vikings other satisfied clients include: Morgan Sindall, CVU JV [Colas/Volker Highways/URS], SISK, Invensys Rail (now Siemens)

together to ensure compliance with construction (design and management) regulations.

Civil engineering and construction Red Viking has the expertise and experience to undertake or assist in all types of construction works within the rail sector from site set up such as de- vegetation and fencing to RC foundations and retaining walls, to stations and other building remediation/modification works.
