The joint venture is also one of the eight contract partners and three framework consultants to be appointed for Yorkshire Water’s AMP6 investment programme. The collaboration’s existing work for Yorkshire Water involves projects ranging between £5M and £50M. The joint venture has a £26M project to improve Scarborough’s bathing water quality.
The project involves constructing additional stormwater storage facilities at Wheatcroft Sewage Pumping Station as well as a new 20m, 35m deep storage shaft at Toll House Pumping Station.
The joint venture is improv- ing Scarborough’s bathing water quality
The two companies have worked together for some time now and, working with Yorkshire Water, the team is carrying out improvement works to clean and wastewater treatment works in batches across the region.
The scope includes all civil, process, mechanical and electrical engineering works from investigation
and feasibility through to commissioning and handover. Scott Aitken, director of water and energy at Grontmij, said: “This is a great example of what can be achieved when we work in close collaboration with Morgan Sindall, our joint venture partner. This is a central part of our strategy for how we provide services in AMP5 and into AMP6.”
OSC strives to outperform efficiency targets
Partners: MWH; Atkins; Severn Trent Water Customers: Severn Trent Water
Contract: NW Waste,
wastewater, non-infrastructure programme Term: Yr4 of 5yr deal Value: £200M
For Severn Trent Water,
collaboration is essential if it is to continuously improve
THE ONE Supply Chain (OSC), comprising MWH Treatment, Atkins and Severn Trent Water, was developed by the water company together with its contractors and suppliers. The trio collaborates on Severn Trent Water’s NW waste, wastewater, non- infrastructure programme as part of its AMP5 capital investment.
The framework is now in its
fourth year with one year to go, although there is an option for Severn Trent Water to extend it to 2020.
The water company opted to go down the collaboration route having decided it was essential if it is to continuously improve, and encourage shared best practice.
The collaboration represents major investment in strengthening relationships,
reviewing the way experiences and knowledge are shared, said the company.
Severn Trent Water said it has challenging capital efficiencies targets are in place with the One Supply Chain consortium doing everything it can to “outperform these”. This will put, said the company, everyone within the alliance in great shape over the next ten years.
