FABTECH 2013 Show Preview Five-Axis Waterjet Cutting

EDGE X-5 five-axis waterjet cutting system cuts precise taper- free parts from virtually any material. The system is capable of cutting sophisticated 3D parts such as impellers and bevels up to 50°. This workhorse waterjet system is designed to provide years of dependable service in harsh industrial environments. Its sturdy design separates the motion system from the catcher tank, eliminating vibration and ensuring maximum part quality. The EDGE X-5 utilizes an industrial PC con-

troller. It is ballscrew driven for optimal precision and features direct-couple AC brushless digital servomotors and single or double carriages. Critical bearing components are protected with heavy metal covers with brush seals and positive air pres- sure. EDGE X-5 waterjet machines are available in many sizes, from 5 × 5' to 24 × 13' (1.5 × 1.5 m to 7.3 × 3.9 m).

Laser CNC FANUC CNC Series 30i/31i- L Model B high-speed laser controls are designed to offer fabricators streamlined effi- ciency and increased productiv- ity, using Ethernet and Ethernet/ IP field bus options and newly supported FANUC NCGuide

simulation software. Integration using Ethernet and Ethernet/ IP field bus options makes it easier for fabricators to now manage operations across equipment controlled by various systems. This solution directly addresses current fabricator challenges of increasing complexity of machine systems, new safety and security requirements, and the growing importance of information technologies. NCGuide simulation software now supports variouscontrols. NCGuide provides a realistic opera- tion and part programming environment. FANUC America Corp. Flexible and Productive Laser Cutting Trumpf’s solid-state laser cutting machine, the TruLaser 3030 fiber, is a flexible, productive and universal choice for high- quality 2D laser processing across a wide range of material types and thicknesses. With three kilowatts of power and a one micron wavelength, the laser is able to cut up to 3/4" (19.1-mm) mild steel, 5/8" (15.9-mm) stainless steel and aluminum, and 1/4" (6.4-mm) copper and brass. The machine is ideal for contract manufacturers looking to cut thin sheetmetal, mild steel in all sheet thicknesses, nonferrous or highly-reflective metals, or whose production volumes are served by a single machine. Designed to be simple and self-explanatory to run, the machine is operated from an ergonomic swiveling operator console. Trumpf
