Arizona Jet Rally

George Kreyling’s second Banditweighs considerably less and flies on electrons rather than kerosene. Caught lifting off for another sortie (above left), this EVF-3, 12S powered version seems to fly lighter than it is and has a huge speed/vertical envelope. The “Artic Aggressor” color scheme showed well against both clouds and blue patches. Bill Seder has his 39-inch wingspan DH 110 Sea Vixen(above right) all dialed in. A 70mm fan unit provided very scale-like performance. This Durafly arf is available through HobbyKing. “Speed Bird 1 this is Superstition Tower: Please

follow Southwest 1234 to the active.” Clark Hans’ Concorde(below left), which he designed, follows Rick Huerta’s Windrider 737 to the runway. Meanwhile, Clay Sherrow blasts past with his “resurrection” Boomerang Nano (below center). A rebuild of a wrecked airframe combined with an old RAM engine provides an inexpensive and fun plane to fly. Bob Reynolds rEaction(below right) scoots past. A smaller (80%) and electrified (90mm fan unit) version of the turbine-powered BTE Reaction-54, this plane just screams fun and Greg reports that it is a pleasure to fly.

Larry Ayott’s Airfield Models F-4 Phantom (above left) screams across the landscape as if it were engaged in a Red Flag exercise up in Nevada. Available from Nitro Planes, Larry modified this 28-inch wingspan model to have the wheels just protrude from the bottom saving the weight of the retract mechanisms. This particular plane is painted in the color scheme and contains the tail number and markings of the plane his dad flew in Vietnam. It is a very

nimble and sprightly performer that Larry kept in the air almost continuously. Bob Reynolds holds his Fantasia (above right), a slightly smaller redesign of Dick Sarpolous’s Jetster with chief pilot and son, David. Using an “economy” 80mm fan unit the performance was not blistering, but very comfortable and predictable. Greg is looking forward to the plans being released as it will be an excellent everyday flier.
