Ron Schwarzkopf, from Fort Worth, TX, brought his brightly colored BVM Bandit(facing page) to wow the spectators and (as it turned out) have a highly visible color scheme that showed up well against the gloomy skies on Saturday. A Jet Central Rabbit turbine provides essentially unlimited performance and a wide speed envelope. Rick Disler's Dynam Me-262 (above) drops over a ridge for another strafing run. Twin 70mm fans driven by a 4S battery provide sprightly performance in a conveniently sized package. Achtung! Achtung! Rick’s Me-262 (above, at right) blasts past over the desert floor. This 59-inch span twin is manufactured by Dynam and sold by Nitro Planes. It performs phenomenally well on its stock setup battery, and looks good while doing it. Mike Warren’s 15+ year old BVM Maverick (at right) “swooshes” past on the thrust of its current fan unit, a Schübler DS77/HST (120mm diameter). 12S 5000 batteries provide the energy for strong, fast flights while a Castle Creations 140HV controller keeps the electrons in check. Mike has used this airframe to test many high-performance setups over the years.


Steve Haynes’ Tazor (at left) (now known as the Boomerang Exige) poses with Steve (L) and Mike Warren (R) in front of the Superstition Mountains at the third event the three of them have teamed up for in the US. It is a fantastic flying, different looking “boomer” that Steve was heavily involved in designing. Propelled by a Stumax fan, it is fast, powerful and quiet. The Tazor poses (above) for the camera in this closeup showing off its very sleek and pleasant lines. CD Bob Ruff poses with his “oldie-but-goody” 17+ year old Trim Aircraft F- 20 (below). The XPS-modified Dynamax fan is powered by Hacker’s A50-12 “electric turbine motor”. This is an airplane with great presence (and performance in the air.
