ons Tour stop at Pebble Beach for the second year in a row, overcoming a three-shot deficit to surge past second- round leader Tom Lehman. A year ago, Triplett erased a four-shot deficit. Both of Triplett’s wins on the Champions Tour have come at Pebble Beach. “I’ve played in over 20 AT&T Pro- Ams, and over 20 Pebble Beach Invi- tationals, and a couple of U.S. Opens here,” said Triplett, 51. “I just have a great affinity for this place.” Triplett joins Jeff Sluman (2008-09) as the only other back-to-back winner of the First Tee Open. two strokes ahead of Monday Qualifier Doug Garwood, and Dan Forsman. Triplett also teamed up with Palo

Alto junior Michelle Xie to capture the Junior-Pro title. Xie, a First Tee of Sili- con Valley member and a former Youth on Course junior, helped Triplett out seven shots, as the team finished at 18 under, to win by two. “Her fundamentals are unbeliev-

able,” Triplett said. “She can probably play Division-I golf right now. She’s smart, too. She really was a joy to be around.”

Xie is a 4.0 student, and owns the

women’s course record at Palo Alto Hills with a 69.

“I’m still shaking,” said Xie, shortly after winning in September. “It’s weird having so many people watching me and cheering me on.”
