The Elite product instructions recommend a minimum wire size of 22 gauge for connecting to the layout. 22-gauge wire is good for up to 2¹/₂ amps, but if you plan on using the full 10 amps, 16-gauge wire is rec- ommended by most electrical stan- dards. A 12″ two conductor cord connects the power supply to the Prodigy com- mand console/base unit. The base unit has a blue backlit LCD display for volt- age, current and fast clock and four LED’s indicating link status, overload, and programming mode. Two modular jacks on the front and another on the back are for handheld cabs, connec- tions to additional layout mounted cab
jack extension plates (MRC No. 0001501), a wireless conversion set (MRC No. 0001512) or a computer in- terface (MRC No. 0001516); plus, a rear-mounted jack for booster output and output connections to the main track and programming track. The Prodigy Elite supports programming CV’s on the main or programming track, and read back of CV values (if read back is supported by the decoder) set in a locomotive on the program- ming track.
The Elite base unit can operate up to 32 handheld cabs, although the base unit can only provide power to a maxi- mum of six cabs. An extension plate with booster power supply (MRC item 0001502) is required for each addition- al five cabs. The Prodigy Elite does not provide the capability to operate ana-
