Huge Upgrade Update The 69kV transmission line upgrade to 138kV is on schedule for the end of the year. The work is

done in stages and requires coordination and cooperation as the upgrade progresses. The big wire or con- duit in the transmission lines has been upgraded to most of the substations. In each substation, the trans- formers have to be changed out or new ones placed. The old transformers took 69,000 volts and trans- formed it to 14,400 volts. The new transformers will take 138,000 volts and transform it to 14,400 volts. In each substation and switch, communication upgrades are also being installed along with the new conduit and transformers. Some delays in communications and microwave towers are being worked through. When each substation is ready, a portable substation will be brought in on a semi-truck. It will be used as each substation will be taken off line and switched over to the new. Also a much needed tie on the east side of our system is going to give Cimarron Electric Coopera-

tive and OG&E a huge reliability switch station. It will allow both of our utilities to have an alternate power supply in the event an outage occurs from one of our primary providers.

New steel has been installed and some communica- tion work is underway at station and at switch. A couple of pole changes need to be made at Dover Junction. Waiting for line to become 138kV.

Above Picture Twin Lakes substation in the foreground on the right and the big Twin Lakes switch in the background to the left. Once completed, this switch will allow Cimarron Electric and OG&E to have two potential sources of power. Construction is complete. Fiber and communications being completed. Waiting on 138kV cut over to new station.

Reeding Substation completed. New transformer, New communication fiber and all conduit and poles and switches in place.
