IN BRIEF Size matters
Did you know the size of your computing device could indicate your personality? Research from Harvard Business School revealed that those who regularly use smaller devices like smart phones or tablets are more likely to be timid, when compared to their peers using laptops or desktops.
Flexible attraction
A recent survey from Planon Software has revealed that 50 per cent of employees would like the opportunity to be able to work more flexibly. Despite a growing trend towards a 24/7 working pattern it seems many employers are still choosing to stick to the traditional 9-5.
Meetings trends
Data from Inntel has revealed a growing trend towards interactive meetings – with iPads and tablets more commonly used in meeting rooms than notepaper and pens. Tweeting on meetings and event tags are also now more common, as is the demand for more breakout rooms.

What are the skills you use most at work? Firstly, I think my organisational skills play a huge part in my job. I’m always arranging meetings, events and these things change easily. So being able to address these changes under pressure is crucial. Secondly, communication is key in order to interact with both internal and external clients.
What’s the best and worst part of your role? I love the people I work with and the varied nature of the role – I have organised a move and refurbishment, office parties along with the usual travels and support to the different departments.
What’s in your top drawer? The usual stationery, business cards, medicines, hand cream, chocolate for my boss…
What do you see for the future of the PA? The views on PAs have now changed from being secretary to business partner to the executive team, making decision on their behalf and playing a good part in business initiatives.
