AWARDS 2013 Judy’s Arabian nights

Last year’s Executive PA Magazine | Hays PA of the Year was Judy Willett, PA to Lord Harris of Peckham at Carpetright. Here we hear all about her trip to Dubai

“My husband and I headed off excit- edly to Dubai aboard Emirates Airlines on 12th April. On arrival we were whisked off to our first resort, Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa. Our Bedouin Suite was sheer Arabic indulgence; the suite was overflowing with the most beautiful antique furniture and on the coffee table was a basket of fresh fruit, dates, Arabic sweets and a bottle of champagne on ice. We were then taken outside to be shown our own personal terrace where we had a private pool. “As it was late we were offered room

service which promptly arrived. It was pure luxury; as we ate all we could hear was the silence of the desert and all we could see was the darkness of the desert. “The following morning we ambled down to breakfast and I have to say the walk was wonderful. The resident Arabian Oryx and gazelles were wandering around, feeding off the trees and bushes and the birds were singing in the trees, sheer bliss! Having enjoyed a lovely breakfast we arranged to do the Dune Drive and Sundowners activity that after- noon/evening and the Ghaf Tree Walk at 6.00am the following morning. “We were allocated our very own Desert

Ranger, Shane, for the activities we had cho- sen and I have to say he was marvellous. Extremely knowledgeable about all things ‘desert’ and he ensured we had a wonder- ful experience. We were even treated to a desert picnic, just me, John and nature – a truly memorable experience indeed. “Having enjoyed two wonderful days

at Al Maha it was time to leave the desert behind and travel to our next hotel, Le Meridien Al Aqah in Fujairah, a two-hour drive away. We stayed in an Executive Suite situated on the 10th floor overlooking the Gulf of Oman, which comprised of two bathrooms, a

kitchen, a beautiful living room with dining facilities and a wonderful bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. A complimen- tary bottle of wine, bottled water and a fruit basket awaited us too. “The hotel itself was a beach resort completely different to Al Maha but equally special. The sandy beach was so fine and white and the sea sparkled under the Arabic sun. We were even treated to a visit up to the Royal Suite on the 21st Floor – absolutely awe-inspiring. It was sheer luxury and indulgence, if only our bank balance could cope! “Finally, after five days it was time to

return home. We will never forget this wonderful holiday. We had an amazing time and are very grateful to Patrick Antaki and his teams for making this such a memorable prize. We are already sav- ing to go back! E
