OFFICE ESSENTIALS

We review what’s worth spending the office stationery budget on

STATIONERY uMoo Luxe Stationery

From £19.99for 10Notecards Making a good impression at work has just got that little bit easier thanks to Moo’s Luxe range. The digital print company already offers super-premium business cards but they’ve now expanded the range to include notecards, postcards and minicards as well. And we can vouch for the quality of the products. The card used is reassuringly thick and sturdy. The company uses paper that is three times thicker than average digital stock and then compresses four layers together to create the thick, luxurious card. There’s also some really neat little touches – you can pick one of four colours (black, blue, red or white) to create a striking seam of colour in the middle. Personalisation is easy – you can either use one of Moo’s designs or upload your own unique artwork to mirror that of your company. And thanks to Printfinity technology each card can have a different image on it rather than them all being identical. As Moo puts it, the range is ‘the unspoken conversation with your customer – a silent detail that lets them know you care’. INFO www.moo.com

COFFEE MAKER uAerobie Aeropress Coffee Maker

£29.99 Surely the one essential for every office is a decent cup of coffee – but how many of you end up drinking instant coffee because it’s quick and easy? Well, get ready to enjoy the most delicious cup of coffee you’ve tasted – and one that is brewed in minutes. The first time we tried the Aeropress it took around five minutes to get a cup of coffee, but with a bit of practice we now have it down to a fine art form and spend just 2 minutes on the task. It’s such a simple machine to use – add the filter, coffee and water to the chamber, mix and then gently apply pressure. Plus clean up is as straight forward as ejecting the filter and coffee in one plug and rinsing the chamber. It’s well worth experimenting with how much coffee you use and the water temperature. The instructions say not to use fully boiled water but it can be hard to know when to turn the kettle off, so experiement. The resulting coffee is smooth and luxurious with no hint of bitterness and one of the nicest cups we’ve tasted – plus unlike a cafetiere there’s no graininess at the bottom of the cup. MOBILE APP tSuperPlanner App

£6.99 Put an encyclopaedia’s worth of knowledge about event organising right in the palm of your hand with this nifty app. It’s likely to save PAs plenty of time working out some of the finer details when organising a large event. For example – its built-in calculators help you determine how many hors d’oeuvres you might need for a 2-hour cocktail party,

how many staff members you’ll need to look after your guests, or what room set up will work best for the event you have in mind. There’s also advice on room set up when it comes to where to place chairs around a screen or stage and plenty of little tips to ensure the event you organise is professional and comfortable for your guests. This is one of the apps that is well worth paying out for – after all think of the damage to your reputation as a PA if your guests aren’t well fed, are crammed into a too-small room or the bar runs dry.
