Gov. Rick Perry has appointed TSCRA Director John Zacek of Victoria and Thomas R. Kelsey of
Houston to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Con- servation Council for terms to expire Feb.1, 2019. The council advises and assists the Texas land commis- sioner with administration of the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program, which enables and facilitates the purchase and donation of agricultural conservation easements. Perry has appointed 7 members to the Brazos River Authority board of directors for terms to
expire Feb. 1, 2019: Richard L. Ball of Mineral Wells; F. LeRoy Bell of Tuscola; Peter G. Bennis of Fort Worth; TSCRA member William “Bill” Masterson of Guthrie; TSCRA Past President G. Dave Scott of Richmond; Raleigh White IV of Temple; and Salva- tore Zaccagnino of Caldwell. The authority develops and conserves surface water resources of the Bra- zos River Basin. Perry has reappointed TSCRA Director Jason Peeler of Floresville to the Evergreen Underground
Water Conservation District for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The board oversees the management and conservation of groundwater in Atascosa, Frio, Wilson and Karnes counties. The executive committee of the Oklahoma Cattle- men’s Association (OCA) has appointed Michael
Kelsey to the executive vice president position, says OCA President Mike Frey of Kingfi sher, Okla. Kelsey joins OCA with more than 14 years of experience, most recently as executive vice president of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association. Dr. Mike Apley, Kansas State University, has received the 2013 Outstand- ing Service Award from the Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC) for

dedicating his career to improving animal health and veterinary medicine by sharing his insights and expertise on antibiotic use in livestock. The annual award is sponsored by Merck Animal Health. John Schenk has been named vice president, operations, at Accelerated Genetics Production Facility in Westby, Wis. and at the Nebraska Bull
Service facility near McCook. TSCRA member Robert S. Hughes II, Bartlesville, has been appointed to the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission, the governing board
for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, by Gov. Mary Fallin and confi rmed this past session by the State Senate. His 8-year term began July 1. He will serve as the commission’s representative for District 1, which includes Ottawa, Delaware, Craig, Mayes, Nowata, Rogers, Washington, Tulsa, Pawnee and Osage counties.
