Curtis Younts Blends TSCRA With Junior Hereford Producers
E
By Dennis Webb, Association Promotion Committee chair
VERY TSCRA MEMBER CAN PLAY A ROLE IN HELPING TSCRA GROW. THIS MONTH I’D LIKE TO showcase how one member helped grow TSCRA and also how hundreds of young cattle raisers were helped along the way.
Through the efforts of Curtis Younts, TSCRA was able to participate in the Texas
Junior Hereford Association and Texas Junior Polled Hereford Association State Show in June. We were truly honored to have an opportunity to meet and interact with juniors and families from all corners of Texas. We also asked juniors to become TSCRA student members. Why would juniors
want to join TSCRA? The industry education and awareness they will be able to gain from this association involvement will complement their existing Hereford association membership and help them better understand the cattle industry. They will also have an opportunity to qualify for various youth scholarship contests culminating at the 2014 Cattle Raisers Convention. What were the results from the event? As of this writing, we have added nearly 100
TSCRA student members. Curtis continues to send in additional membership forms and we continue to receive calls from event attendees inquiring about TSCRA membership. The Association Promotion Committee is truly grateful for Curtis’ efforts and will- ingness to lead by example.

Kuhn Expands GMD TL Disc Mower Series
T
HE NEW KUHN GMD 2850 TL TRAILED DISC MOWER IS designed primarily for hay producers who prefer
the benefi ts of a trailed disc mower, but require a ma- chine that will fi t through narrow gates and passage- ways. It has a working width of 8 feet, 10 inches and maintains the same features and benefi ts of the larger models in the GMD TL Series, including the GMD 3150 TL, GMD 3550 TL and GMD 4050 TL, that have work- ing widths of 10 feet, 2 inches; 11 feet, 6 inches; and 13 feet, respectively. The GMD 2850 TL provides easy hook-and-go at-
tachment that gets producers in the fi eld faster. The Optidisc® cutterbar, with differential disc spacing,
tscra.org
ensures a clean cut, even in challenging conditions. This cutterbar is also “lubed for life,” decreasing overall maintenance requirements. The Protectadrive® cutterbar provides reliability
and improved suspension with greater adjustability. The GMD 2850 TL trailed design lowers the tractor ballast requirement, allowing use with smaller trac- tors while maintaining excellent stability both at work and in transport. This design is the better alternative to a large mounted disc mower or mower on a caddy. For more information, visit kuhnnorthamerica.
