the corresponding thermal image. The result is speedier inspection as all values are automatically included in the inspection report. “We used to note the values of a clamp meter separately and allocate them to the thermal image later on,” explained technician Andre Bacht. “And this posed the risk of mis- takes.” Meterlink eliminates this risk and it is complemented by integrated wireless LAN that allows thermal images to be transferred to a PC or mobile device.

EGI can create an instant report in its camera that includes voice, text and sketch annotations that are applied via the 3.5" touchscreen. In common with all FLIR thermal imaging cameras, the FLIR T440 is supplied complete with FLIR Tools software that enables EGI to export thermal images to a PC for basic reporting and analysis of find- ings. It allows the flexible handling of the thermal image, the addition of headers, footers and logos and the cre- ation of PDF image sheets. Adopting FLIR’s technology has allowed EGI to tap into a new income stream and, in addition to its application in the field of predictive maintenance and fire prevention, it is providing a quality control func- tion too. As EGI builds its own elec- trical switchboards and cabinets, the

FLIR T-Series cameras are also being used to detect any pre-commission- ing faults.

Summary

Whilst the majority of fire prevention thermal inspection applications are conducted using handheld thermal imaging cameras, the use of fixed installation models is also growing significantly. For this purpose FLIR has developed its A-Series, a range of
