signage, from large‐scale screens that the image is projected on to and video walls to smaller screens and tablets for a more modest display. Anders and Kern offer many different types of digital screens and also offer software that can design, run and even transmit the digital data. The A+K Airgoo is an Android based HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) that can transform any standard flat screen TV in to a digital sign. The minimalistic USB makes the system quick to set up and a cost effective solution. The microplayer has a secure, cloud based CMS that makes it easy for user to add, manage, organise and upload multimedia content. The content can also be scheduled to play at certain times meaning the signage can be changed depending on the time of day or during busy periods. The device can also be managed locally giving retailers the option to change messages quickly and easily and provides the ideal solution for retail marketing. The centralised system can also be easily integrated in to the existing infrastructure of the business. Social media and QR codes can give consumers an increased opportunity to interact with the brand and new avenues to communicate with the retailer and can be utilised on both digital and printed signs. Good signage really does reap rewards so retailers should utilise this form of communication in every way they can. They need to remember to keep designs clear and simple and when placing signage that visibility is crucial. New types of stock should be utilised and digital signage should be considered if budget allows as it demonstrates that the brand is moving with the times and offering consumers a more

interactive experience.

Stores that use well placed, clear and concise signage, whether digital or printed, should see increased sales in the areas promoted. Digital signage won’t replace printed signs anytime soon however, clever use of both printed and digital signs can offer retailers the chance to communicate their core messages via printed material alongside their current offers and promotions on digital. This system works well as it appeals to all demographics and consumers can see the familiar branding on the more permanent signs and also view more current material as they journey through the store.
