Minki Balinki Loewe at Harrods

Minki Balinki was asked to produce a giant oversized version of the iconic Amazonia handbag by Loewe. The design and concept, created by Loewe was produced and fitted by Minki Balinki in Harrods, London.

The body of the bag is made up on 132 individual golden tools, supplied by Loewe and were suspended from a bespoke steel grid on invisible wires. Giant leather handles and corner pieces complete the look of the bag along with an oversized exact replica of the padlock found on all Loewe Amazonia bags.

The internal metal structure within each handle ensures that they are held in place and each measurement for each item was carfully calculated to preserve the shape of the bag.

The stunning display was framed with a backdrop of cream leather paneled walls and floors and provides a simple but complimentary stage. The installation claimed worldwide recognition and was a great project for Minki Balinki to be involved in. T: +44 (0) 1725 513 412 W: www.minkibalinki.com

Qatar Museum Authority Harrods have recently installed an exhibition about Qatar, commissioned by the Qatar Museums Authority; Elemental Design was asked to create a display adjacent to the In‐Q Café situated on the second floor of Harrods. The exhibition features traditional images of Qatar in a traditional setting. The team at Elemental Design was flown out to Qatar where they foraged for items to use within the exhibition. Once back in London the items were then sprayed with a satin maroon colour to mirror the national flag. Arched exhibition walls housed the items and were finished in a textured plaster with gold mirrored detailing. To accompany the exhibition a window display was also created by Elemental Design to advertise the exhibition to passing trade. During the visit to Qatar the team were inspired by Islamic patterns and sacred geometry abundant in Qatari architecture and the window display was based around this inspiration.

The backdrop is made from highly polished facetted brass, which creates an amazing geometrical design from reflected light. The In‐q logo is placed centrally for maximum effect and a strongly illuminated border completes the look. T: +44 (0) 20 7733 7793 W: www.elemental.co.uk
