I tested out the highly economical 318d Sport model over a demanding route incorporating winding Italian climbs and fast country roads and the GT coped splendidly with anything put in its path. Although the GT doesn’t deliver the thrill and sheer fun factor of the Z4, it’s still impressive in its own way. Despite its size it proved deceptively agile and nimble as it coped easily with hairpin bends, and acceleration through the six-speed manual transmission was nice and smooth.
