support and comfort levels. For a truly edge-of-the-seat ride, which is not recommended for anyone of a nervous disposition, is the Z4 sDrive 35i M Sport with seven-speed automatic transmission. And that’s the car I put through its paces along winding Italian roads around Tuscany. When you turn on the ignition, the car comes to life with a gentle purring noise, the slightest pressure on the accelerator transforms the purr to a growl and pulling away at speed sounds like a lion’s roar at feeding time. Tis powerhouse of the range can sprint to 62mph from a standing start in just 5.1 seconds and has a top speed limited to 155mph. Priced at £52,400 with almost £10,000 worth of optional extras, the car goes like a rocket. Te harder you push it, the more it delivers and hair-pin bends are attacked and conquered with absolute ease – the tighter the better! Te constant supply of power on tap is

unrelenting and with a slightest hint of sunshine, the hard top roof can be lowered at the press of a button in just 20 seconds at speeds up to 20mph. Storage options are not great with room for just a couple of overnight bags, but in all honesty the Z4 isn’t designed for practicality, but offers all the

driving dynamics and styling for the fashion- conscious thrill-seekers of this world. And BMW has even released a new entry

level model priced at £27,600 to widen the car’s appeal. Te sDrive 18i may not be capable of keeping up with its more powerful sibling, but believe me, it’s no slouch either. Te other newcomer sees BMW improving its incredibly popular 3 Series range which accounts for 34% of the company’s global sales. Te already established line-up of the saloon, touring, coupe and convertible now welcome the Gran Turismo or GT to the family. Tis larger-than-life model brings together

the sporty dynamics of the saloon and the practicality and versatility of the tourer. It offers unprecedented amounts of room within the cabin and rear seat passengers can stretch out in style. It’s a bit like travelling business class. In total contrast to the Z4, the GT could almost be utilised to move home with a boot capacity of 520 litres which is increased further thanks to 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats. But, make no mistake; the GT is not simply a load-lugging people mover. It looks mean and moody with its rugged, grounded stance and eye-catching features
