Gamers are spoilt for choice this November. One week after Xbox One and we have another next-gen console launch as Sony enters the arena with its PS4. Greg Lockley looks at the new machine and provides all the info you need
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
PS4 owners will find everything they need in the box for a smooth day one experience. For those who need reassuring, here’s a compiled list of everything that consumers can expect to find as they open their new console. Gamers will first encounter the PS4 system itself. Next up is the redesigned DualShock 4 wireless controller, along with a micro-USB cable for charging. Gamers looking to jump straight online and play with friends can do so with the bundled mono- headset. As for the rest of those pesky connections, Sony has included the PS4’s power cable in addition to a 2m HDMI cable.

EYE SEE YOU
Sony has introduced a new camera for use with the PS4, which allows the console to recognise the depth of space surrounding the user. Players can now login to the PS4 using just facial recognition, while controlling their games with more precision than ever before using both their body movements and voice commands. Another feature of the new PlayStation Camera is its compatibility with the DualShock 4 controller. The device can read the colour of gamepads using its built-in light bar to determine the positions of multiple players in one room.
