PROFESSIONAL SERVICES & RECRUITMENT
New professional services frameworks for TfL
TfL has developed a new set of six Professional Services Frameworks to cut costs and meet operational goals more efficiently and effectively.
The current arrangements have saved TfL £6m over three and a half years, and the new frameworks are expected to deliver similar or improved savings. They are designed to set standard terms and conditions and to cap rates, lowering administration costs.
The frameworks will cover procurement to improve accessibility, addressing freight movements, improve signalling and increasing capacity. They are intended to give TfL better access to external consulting skills and capabilities, and award more contracts to SMEs.
TfL will encourage joint ventures and the sharing of suppliers to reduce costs and simplify workloads.
Andrew Quincey, TfL director of commercial, said: “We’ve started developing a new set of framework agreements which will allow us to keep improving and maintaining London’s transport services for our customers whilst delivering the best possible value for money. The frameworks will also enable us to work collaboratively with the wider GLA group as well as London Boroughs.”
The six professional services frameworks will be:
• Highway Engineering; • Railway Engineering; • Transport Planning and Impact Monitoring; • Civil and Structural Engineering; Mechanical and Electrical Engineering; Multidisciplinary Services; • Commercial Services; Project and Programme Management; • Environmental Services; Health and Safety.
HS2 environmental services contract awarded
HS2 Ltd has awarded a £1.5m contract for environmental services for the second phase of the £33bn Y-shaped network.
Temple and RSK have been awarded the contract to assist HS2 Ltd in the completion of Appraisal of Sustainability. The work includes support at consultation events, logging consultation issues
and responses, undertaking environmental appraisals of the scheme refinements, and supporting HS2 Ltd with activities post-consultation, leading to final scheme selection.
Beth West, HS2 Ltd commercial director said: “HS2 is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever undertaken in the UK and it will give a significant
boost to the engineering and environmental sectors through developing the expertise needed to work on such large projects. This contract award is a positive sign of the progress that continues to be made on phase two beyond Birmingham as we move toward the public consultation later in the summer on the initial preferred route that was published at the end of January.”
Temple/RSK project director, Chris Fry explained: “We are delighted to be able to assist HS2 Ltd with further refinement of the scheme and welcome our new partner, RSK who bring additional specialist knowledge to expand our established appraisal team.”
This is the fourth contract awarded under the phase 2 framework agreement.
