Gold medallist backs Willow Ride
Paralympic gold medallist Mark Colbourne will be cycling in support of seriously ill young adults at the Willow Bike Challenge in Stevenage, July 21st. Raising funds for the WIllow Foundation, the Willow Bike Challenge is pitched at three levels of cyclist, from beginner to enthusiast. The ride coincides with the final day of the Tour de France, and the event will be televised at the final stop off point on the day. Find out more about the worthy ride at

Future Wiggins and Pendleton?
One hundred of the country’s top, er, toddlers competed in London’s first-ever major balance bike event, the Strider British Balance Bike Championships. Anyone from 18 months to five years old could take part at the newly constructed BMX track in Merton. At the race, twenty riders won qualifying spots for the Strider British Bike Championship to be held later this year. There’s more details over at

After a few baffling minutes, they IBD in the pink with Giro comp
Pelican Cycles was top of the pecking order in a competition run by Santini and distributor Fisher Outdoor Leisure. The IBD won a merchandising contest to bag an all-expenses paid trip to Stage 19 of the Giro d’Italia. Not only did Pelican whip up an impressive Giro display to bag the prize, but it even roped in a local restaurant into its efforts as well as marketing hard and, we hear, reaping the sales benefits.

IBD cashes up for Help for Heroes
Last month Suarez Clothing got behind a charity event run by Catterick’s Bank Cycles. In a Tour De France 2014 North Yorkshire bike ride – taking in the same route as next year’s Grand Depart – cash was raised for the Help for Heroes Foundation. The 70-mile ride drew from a wide pool of cyclists, including professional continental riders, club riders, enthusiasts and triple amputee hand bike riders of the foundation.
