EDD’S BIKES ARRIVES IN STEVENAGE Stevenage, the UK’s first new town and served by ample segregated cycle lanes, has a new bike shop in Edds’s Bikes. Opened by local MP Stephen
McPartland at a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 17th, the shop was founded by Edd Littler. According to Littler, the shop had been in the planning for some years and the new shop is spacious and modern, offering all types of bicycles from children’s first bikes, to extreme sports models. There is also a servicing department where the team can fix or build bikes with a comfy sofa area if the customer chooses to wait. As well as promoting green methods of
travel in and around Stevenage, Edd’s Bikes will offer cycle to work business and fleet bicycle services to local industry. Littler said: “I really hope people like
what we have done here and that they come and see us in the shop. It’s been a lot of hard work and I’d like to thank so many of my friends that helped us.” Edd’s Bikes can be found at 7-9 The

TOKYO FIXED CLOSES AND
CREATORS LAUNCH KINOKO While Tokyo Fixed at 4 Peter Square, Soho, is now closed for good (since May 11th), the owers behind the shop have now opened Kinoko Cycles at Golden Square, also in Soho.
The stylish shop is a vastly increased
space for the retailer and features a full fitting centre with two top-level qualified fitters, a huge workshop, plenty of space for bikes, parts, clothing and even art. There are also in-house baristas installed in the new shop. Stocking performance road bikes from Cannondale, Trek and Focus, artisan and boutique brands are naturally featured at Kinoko too, including Tonic Fabrications, Cherubim, Donhou and Independent Fabrications – as well as Tokyo Fixed models. The shop has the same approach for clothing and components, championing smaller brands like Vulpine and Paul Components which share space with the likes of Castelli team kit and Shimano groupsets.

THERE CYCLING DEBUTS IN WEST END OF LONDON There Cycling opened its second cycle shop in May, set in Goldhawk Road, West London.
Located close to the vast Westfield shopping centre and even closer to the north entrances to Ravenscourt Park – “a wonderful spot for a test ride” – There Cycling is hoping to appeal to affluent West London customers from Chiswick, Kew, Kensington, Putney, Richmond, Fulham and Chelsea. The store stocks Pilen, Retrovelo and Gazelle bicycles and Bakfiets Cargo Bikes. There Cycling has a Cytech accredited workshop that will take on those “‘impossible’ jobs like hub gears, dynamo and coaster brake work and other difficult or irregular stuff”. While the shop doesn’t retail sports bikes, such bikes are welcome in the workshop at both locations. There Cycling’s Jim Kent said: “Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far and thanks for all the help and encouragement we have received from everyone.” There Cycling’s first shop is based in Hanwell, Ealing.

NEW WHITELEY SHOPPING CENTRE
FEATURES SOLENT CYCLES IBD Solent Cycles has opened a new branch in the recently opened £84 million Whiteley shopping centre. Brands stocked by Solent include Cube,
Endura, Giant, Cannondale & Ibis. Mens & Ladies Road, Mountain, Leisure and Commute Bikes. Children’s bikes start from five year old upwards. Solent has three other shops, including
Lee-on-the-Solent, Fareham and Portchester. Hampshire’s Whiteley shopping centre
has created 1,000 local jobs and was opened on Thursday May 23rd. The new centre also has a branch of outdoor retailer Blacks as well as Sports Direct.
BIKE LOGIC OPENS IN CHESTER
You may have missed it, but at the end of last year Bike Logic opened in Helsby, Cheshire. Stocking bikes and accessories, the store specialised in road and MTB. Find Bike Logic at 205 Chester Road, Helsby.
