INTERIORS
“Then I started doing quite a lot with mews houses and stuff in London, revamping them and making them quite cool and contemporary inside, and adding a bit more light where it was possible. So it went from there, really.”
She says that her style is quite neutral and classical, and she always keeps in mind that the interiors need to be practical as well as beautiful. “It’s cool and contemporary, but I think it’s also comfortable. Because some can be so cool, you know, you don’t feel like you can sit down. I’ve been to many places where you don’t feel like you can put your cup of coffee down anywhere because you might make a mess,” Celia says. “I don’t want it to be like that,
I want it to be comfortable as well so it’s actually functional and you can live in it. Which is, you know, the whole point.”
Cool 10 is working on its first interior for a private aircraft at the moment. “We can go a bit more futuristic on that,” says Celia. “That’s really nice to do, because it sounds so exciting and we get to go on them.”
Another strand of her work is buying and selling artwork and collectables – which is where Four Rooms comes in. She got a role as one of the dealers on the Channel 4 show – where members of the public bring in their prized objects and try to get the best price by taking a risk on which offer to take – after she saw an advert asking for items to go on the show. Celia sent in a picture of herself, and was contacted the next day. “It sounds awful, doesn’t it?,” she says, laughing. “Some of my clients collect, so I’m often buying

bits and bobs for them… And I’m always on the lookout for pieces to go into their collections, or if we’re doing a scheme, we put some stuff in that they like and make it very personal for them. I’d seen the show and then I saw an advert for it saying: ‘Have you got any interesting items to bring on, send us a picture?’ So I sent a picture of me and I said: ‘What about me?’
“It was a bit tongue-in-cheek. But I thought, you know, I should be on there really because I can have a look at stuff that people bring in then – it’d be quite good for me.”
