Four years ago, she launched her own art advisory for private and corporate clients. She took on the newly-created role of chief executive at Masterpiece London earlier this year. “When Masterpiece approached me, I thought it’s just too good an opportunity not to try it,” she says. “I bring a different perspective to the fair. Everyone involved has either been running other fairs or they’re in the decorative art arena… I’ve got experience of building up collector and client activities and thinking about what really makes them tick and what they would like. So I think for them it’s really a sign of their commitment to the fair and ensuring its continued growth.” She says she hopes to develop Masterpiece London as a true collectors’ fair and admits she has a passion for collecting things herself, from furniture to Miró prints to a handpainted ostrich egg, specially commissioned for her by her husband. “I collect what I love,” she says.

For any budding collectors coming to the fair, her advice is: “Look around, look at everything, and trust your instinct, because nine times out of ten you’re going to be right. And you do have the assurance that everything is very strictly vetted. The exhibitors that we have are there to help you, and they are all very, very knowledgeable in their fields.”

Masterpiece London runs from June 27-July 3 (preview June 26) in the South Grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.masterpiecefair.com. Tickets are £20, including a copy of the fair magazine.
