NINE JOBS YOU MAY NOT KNOW YOU CAN DO WITH A BOBCAT COMPACT EXCAVATOR
GRADING
It’s common knowledge that you can dig with your Bobcat®
compact
excavator, and thank goodness for that! Traditional excavating keeps thousands of construction contractors employed on jobsites every day. However, compact excavators have built-in versatility and business expansion opportunities you may not have considered.
Your Bobcat compact excavator offers remarkable utility far beyond its conventional role. With the right attachments and a coupler system that allows for quick and easy exchanges, here are nine tasks you may not know you can perform with an excavator.
12 WS
A Bobcat excavator with an angle blade transforms into a rough or fi nish grader, as well as a backfi lling and leveling machine without forming dirt windrows. A grading bucket can cut swales and shape contours for drainage projects. Combined with the PowerTilt® or Hydra-Tilt™
swing
accessories, buckets gain signifi cant range of motion for improved precision.
COMPACTING
An excavator can be fi tted with a plate compactor or a packer wheel attachment to compact the fi ll. These two attachments can eliminate placing workers in a trench to do hand-operated compaction or managing a walk-behind unit above ground to close up a trench.
BREAKING CONCRETE
Excavators are perfectly suited for demolition work. Armed with a Bobcat hydraulic breaker, operators can demolish concrete and asphalt driveways, sidewalks, trails, paths and swimming pools. This powerful combination can reduce small vertical structures, such as old buildings and retaining walls, into manageable chunks.
LIFTING
Excavators are ideal for loading/unloading trucks containing heavy items such as septic tanks. They can also replace tractor loader backhoes on horizontal directional drilling projects to lift and hold components into place for bore hole entry.
DRILLING HOLES
Install fence posts, piers and poles, or plant trees and other vegetation quickly with a Bobcat auger. Increase your accuracy and convenience when digging footings for buildings, houses, decks and other structures.
CLEARING & LOADING
In areas targeted for development, Bobcat excavators can improve properties by leveling dead or fallen trees and removing underbrush. Versatile attachments such as buckets with teeth, clamps, three- tine grapples and rotating grapples can grab, pull and drag saplings and rooted undergrowth, as well as sort and load trucks. For longer reaches into the woods or truck beds, the telescoping Bobcat extendable-arm option provides additional reach.
