T

errell Owens is a gifted athlete who loves competition and has a fl are for drama, as well as a knack for creating controversy. It’s no surprise,

then, that the former National Football League star generated headlines and a social media stir when he laced up his bowling shoes and bowled in the 2013 USBC Open Championships in Reno in early May. Owens, who is also the celebrity owner of the PBA

League Dallas Stars, joined PBA Commissioner Tom Clark, former USBC employee Ed Baur, PBA Xtra frame announcers Mike Jakubowski and Jason Thomas, and Luby Publishing president Keith Hamilton as a member of the Bowlers Journal International team. Owens opened with a 475 series in the team event,

teamed with Clark for 503 in doubles, and rolled 530 in singles for a 1,508 all-events total. He averaged 167 for the nine games. Following his competitive bowling debut, “T.O.” refl ected

on his growing passion for the sport and his penchant for drawing attention.
