Building on last year’s success, Troy Means Business 2013 was once again held at ‘The Wing’ at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. More space was needed for the increase in attendees and this year the mezzanine floor was given over to Troy TV who spent the day interviewing and speaking to Managing Directors of Troy, sponsors of the show and many of the suppliers and members. Throughout the day there was live coverage on large screens for the entertainment of the visitors. Once again there was an opportunity for attendees to drive a Ferrari 360 or a Nissan GTR round a wet and slippery circuit, or for those who preferred something warmer and drier, two F1 simulators within the two halls. Business was

brisk throughout the day. Anne and Christine were honoured to be entrusted with judging the Best Stands competition – a difficult task, as the exhibition standard was consistently high.

Vicki Butler-Henderson with The Stig

They felt it was important for visitors to be able to see and examine products, so their short list came down to those companies

who had a visually appealing display of a good range of products. The day rounded off

with a Gala Dinner at nearby Whittlebury Hall with a return of host Vicki Butler-Henderson from Channel Five television. The evening included the presentation of prizes by the four main sponsors, Draper, Dormer, Makita and Toolbank, a special Award for Lifetime Achievement to Sonia Farmer from Troy and then some excellent entertainment. The guest of honour was Ben Collins formally known as The Stig who entertained the audience with tales of his life as a grown up boy racer and stunt man. Following the viewing of a video and photomontage of the days highlights, the evening concluded with comedian Rod Windward and then a chance for guests to participate in a fun Casino.
