Tickets ± priced from £29.50 to £13.50. Slip into a world of enchantment and mischief in Shakespeare’s best loved comedy
Royal & Derngate’s Made In Northampton season continues with the third of its Comedy Gold productions, when Shakespeare’s best-loved comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream takes to the Royal stage, from Friday 19 April to Saturday 11 May.
Perfect both as an introduction to Shakespeare and for seasoned Shakespeare audiences, A Midsummer Night’s Dream off ers a feast of humour and magic. T is new production sets the action in Edwardian England, but mischief is afoot and the usual divides of upstairs/downstairs have been turned upside down. Worlds real and unreal collide, passion and madness erupt, love and magic work their potent charms and love at fi rst sight proves real for some but makes an ass of others.
Taking the role of the fairy queen Titania is Amy Robbins, best-known as Dr Jill Weatherill in ITV series T e Royal and fresh from starring in the West End as Mrs Johnston in Blood Brothers. Playing the mischievous Puck is Colin Ryan, from CBBC’s Leonardo, and Joseph Alessi, last seen on the Royal stage in the hugely successful Brief Encounter, plays the part of Bottom.
