COLOUR BUZZ!

ESSENTIAL LOOKS 2013 by SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL

WHITE ANGLES

If ever a culture embodied the fi ne art of restrained elegance, then the Japanese quietly position themselves centre stage.

Running with the inspirational baton from last year’s Oriental Express, Spring/Summer 2013 saw many designers taking their aesthetic cues from the masters of sculptural shapes, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo.

In a trend devoted to form and structure the focus is kept exclusively on rigorously simple lines with a palette that is minimalism itself ± w hite, white and more white! Kimono references are put through a modern fi lter in wide cropped and panelled tops, asymmetric skirts and exaggerated shapes with more than a nod to origami folds and pleats.

Gemma & Julie Hensman & Holly Taylor from Hensmans headed off to join a World Tour for trends and colour recently, where they congregated with 3,000 other leading hairdressing salons from around the globe. T e purpose was to hear about, learn about and bring back to their Northampton and Milton Keynes salons, the inside track on the latest colour innovations and trends that come straight from the catwalk to the salon.

“T e global Essential Looks show held at the Velodrome in Berlin was incredible, with ‘out of this world’ production, 80 models and a show that included street dancers, mopeds and local heroes from around the world, Colour Buzz was really the right description!” commented Julie Hensman.

T rough various, fashion-oriented looks we were reminded how colour transforms - no matter age, style or hair type. Taking the inspiration from some of the season’s hottest catwalk trends, Schwarzkopf Professional created four stunning visual moods, each of which redefi nes the power of colour with groundbreaking technology along with evolutions of

classic techniques. T e Hensmans team were absorbed as the four key looks were revealed: from the graphic swing of MONO MODS, to the languid sophistication of GLAM CHIC, the non-conformism of ELECTRIC YOUTH to the minimalist, timeless, pared-down purity of WHITE ANGLES, “these four uber-contemporary visions for today, suit every style and match any mood ± t he colour was almost unbelievable ± s o beautiful we can’t wait to put it into action in the salons!” added Gemma Hensman.
