William E. Simon Olympic Endowment for the Support of Athletes Awarded


ISSF Judges and Electronic Scoring Targets Course Educates and Certifi es Additional Offi cials


USA Shooting (USAS) and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) hosted an ISSF Judges and Electronic Scoring Targets (EST) Course in Camp Perry, Ohio in January 2013. The ISSF Judges Course


was an advanced competition offi cials’ course for rifl e or pistol that can lead to certifi cation as an ISSF Class B Judge. Several


individuals were certifi ed as a result of the course. The EST course is designed


for competition offi cials who work on ranges equipped with electronic targets to give them the knowledge and skills they need to solve problems arising from the application of EST rules. In addition to the representatives from the


United States, global attendees included Guatemala, Mexico, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago. USAS would like to thank


instructors Gary Anderson, Susan Abbott and Wanda Jewell as well as CMP for helping to deliver this benefi cial program.

The United States Olympic Committee announced that the trustees for the William E. Simon Olympic Endowment for the Support of Athletes have awarded $60,000 in 2013 grant funding to 16 men and women pursuing their dreams of representing the United States at future Olympic and Paralympic Games. Established in 1998 with a gift of $1


million from its namesake - William E. Simon - the William E. Simon Olympic Endowment for the Support of Athletes provides funds to supplement athletes’ training and competition expenses. Annually awarded, these grants are approved by members of Simon’s family who serve as trustees for the Simon Endowment as well as for the William E. Simon Foundation. Since the program’s inception, a total of $720,000 has been awarded to 158 athletes. National Rifl e Team member Sarah
