MIXING IT UP For the independently wealthy, the idea of a commercial recording studio retains some credence. Benny Andersson’s Riksmixningsverket (RMV) studio, for instance, sustains the modern juxtaposition of vintage and digital from its premises on Stockholm’s waterfront. Any such

Each has a PHD interface for Pro Tools and is used to interpret signal quality between the DAW and a 64-channel Neve 8068 analogue console. “With all the vintage musical instruments available in the studio it’s important to be able to record with a clean, natural and warm analogue sound,” comments studio engineer Bernhard Loehr. “It’s important to have reliable high-end gear and a very high-end system,” adds studio manager Linn Fijal. “The converters should not be noticed in the sound. Malmqvist became involved in
