In an exclusive chat withPSNEurope, Adlib announces a new partnership with console maker Midas, plus a slew of gear to the inventory, writes Erica Basnicki

LIVERPOOL-BASED Adlib Solutions has been appointed UK distributor of Midas consoles. Adlib’s audio manager and director Dave Jones confirmed with PSNEurope that as a result of the agreement, the company has initially purchased a stock of PRO1, PRO2 and PRO6 consoles.

“Becoming a Midas dealer

is obviously great news for Adlib, it opens up opportunities for our rental, sales and installations departments. Previously we’ve only ever owned Midas analogue (consoles), so we hadn’t actually got on board with digital until earlier this year. Really, it’s something we should’ve done a long time ago,” said Jones. Mick Brophy, Midas Klark

Teknik UK customer support manager, added: “We are delighted to welcome Adlib to the MKT family. They have spotted a great opportunity in investing in Midas products at

last month. Yamaha has been a supporter of Dante technology for over four years. Shure launched the ULX-D

range at NAMM 2012, becoming a Dante licensee in July. Kazunori Kobayashi, general

manager of the Yamaha Pro Audio division, said: “Our

collaboration with Shure has resulted in Dante network communication between ULX-D digital wireless system components and CL series consoles that will give our users a significantly enhanced working environment with direct, efficient control.” Sandy LaMantia, president and CEO of Shure, added: “Both of our companies share a strong commitment to providing our customers with high-quality products. inventory, I suppose we have previously been considered as a Soundcraft or Digidesign house, so one of my goals for this year was to get Midas and

DiGiCo digital consoles into our hire stock. This gives the client more options to choose from,” Jones said. “Having a large stock of L-Acoustics speaker systems, plus Coda and JBL it was the consoles that needed a bit of a revamp. Getting, in my opinion, two of the biggest names in digital consoles confirms our commitment to our clients’ needs. I’m really happy with how it’s progressed so far.” In addition to the new digital consoles, Adlib has increased its stock of L-Acoustics KARA and LA8 amplifiers, which were required for Lana Del Rey’s current European tour. Jones added that the company is “about to double its stock” of Coda ViRAY boxes, bringing its total audio investment to a six-figure sum. Through the relationship with Coda, Adlib has also become the exclusive UK distributor of ViRAY. In addition to Lana Del Rey, Adlib currently has tours out with American alternative band Eels, BRIT Award winner Ellie Goulding and British new wave giants OMD. Throughout the summer Adlib will also be involved with ska stalwarts The Specials, Elvis Costello and Santana. n www.adlibsolutions.co.uk www.midasconsoles.com
