Two Allen & HeathiLive digital mixing systems and a total of 12 new ME-1 personal mixers were used by PA company APR to manage monitors for two-day gospel event Sing Inspiration!, recently held at London’s Royal Festival Hall. APR provided the audio setup, selecting an iLive-144 system to handle general monitor duties (IEMs and wedge monitors), and 12 ME-1 mixers to feed to a second iLive system, giving each musician their own monitor control on stage. www.allen-heath.com

The Trondheim Soloists ensemble has invested in 20 DPAd:vote 4099 instrument mics, supplied by DPA’s Norwegian distributor, Lyd-Systemer AS. “Quality is key to everything we do,” said Steinar Larsen, managing director of the orchestra. “[We] have made a significant investment, in both time and money, to ensure that our amplified sound is of an equally high standard.” www.dpamicrophones.com

Sennheiser e935 a tourer with Ora

BRITISH SINGER-songwriter Rita Ora recently completed the sold out 12-date UK leg of her Radioactive Tour, where FOH engineer Chris ‘Bronski’ Jablonski deployed a selection of Sennheiser microphones for her performances. “Sennheiser wireless products

are second to none,” said Bronski. “It’s always the easiest choice to make, and it helps that Rita’s voice sounds great on an SKM 2000 with an e935 capsule. Her vocal always sits on top of the mix, and the e935 enables me to find delicacies in her strong delivery.” “The same goes for the e904s and e604s we have dotted around on various toms and snares

(Rita also plays a tom). The microphones are consistently great sounding and forgiving on tiring drumheads.” Bronski also reported that

they have had no RF issues with the microphones or the Sennheiser G3 IEM systems. n www.sennheiser.co.uk

GERMANY

NEITHER, THE world’s first opera in 3D audio, received the Opus 2013 German Stage Award for technical realisation at Prolight + Sound. The opera, staged by Berlin-based phase7, used an IOSONO 3D sound system to float a digitally programmed virtual orchestra through the audience.

“I was just the lucky guy accepting the award because somebody has to,

but at phase7 we’re like a group of friends, and we all had this dream and made it happen. And, of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of IOSONO,” said phase7 founder Sven Sören Beyer. Neitherheads to Norway for the Bergen International Festival on 24–25 May. n
