New MD for Franklin Rae
SADIE GROOM, managing director of Bubble & Squeak and Silver Lining Communications, will also take on the role of managing director of PR agency Franklin Rae, following the acquisition of Franklin Rae by Tessa Laws, founder of media law firm newlawslegal. Jill Franklin, who founded Franklin Rae in 2003, said: “I’m delighted that Tessa is backing Franklin Rae’s next phase of development and that Sadie Groom has been appointed to take the helm. Sadie has terrific industry experience and definitely has got what it takes to drive the company forward.” Franklin will sit on the Franklin Rae board alongside Jonathan Jackson, who was group managing director of DRG, and Steve Leach, formerly of Big Mouth Media.

Harris appoints Vogt to top job
HARRIS BROADCAST has appointed Charlie Vogt as CEO, joining from Genband where he led a company transformation that encompassed six acquisitions, including Tekelec SSG, NextPoint Networks and Nortel’s VoIP Business. Vogt succeeds Harris Morris, who was appointed president of Harris Broadcast when it was a subsidiary of Harris Corporation in 2010, led the company through its divestiture process and guided the transition period to The Gores Group ownership, including the completion of fiscal year 2013.

In addition, Alain Pecot has been appointed VP of Middle East and Africa. Pecot has been a senior member of the Harris team for five years, as regional director for southern Europe and as vice president, transmission systems, in Europe and Africa.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has appointed Simon Fell as its new director of Technology and Innovation. Fell is replacing Lieven Vermaelewho departed in January after six years in the post. Broadcast and video technology distributor Holdan has appointed Jon Hubery as specialist AV channel manager. Hubery will help AV installers, dealers and resellers integrate video technology cost- effectively into their projects.
