Full studio systems live at NAB

By Jake Young Ross Video

DEMONSTRATION STATIONSfor sports, news, events and worship productions enable clients to book a demo that relates to the production type of their choosing. A combination of Vision, Carbonite and CrossOver production switchers combined with XPression graphics systems, BlackStorm playout servers and Ross Robotics systems comprise Ross Studio Systems.

Ross is showing a live demonstration of a fully integrated virtual studio production and augmented reality system. VS & AR partner Unreel provides tracking integration and control via Unreel UX – tying together Ross’ graphics, switchers, robotics and automation technology.

The Vision Series production switchers show the latest

enhancements to Ross’ flagship large production switchers with version 16 software continuing to add even more production and effects capabilities. Celebrating over 1,000 units shipped, the rapidly expanding Carbonite family includes Ross’ latest control panels the C2

(compact) and C2X (extended) as well as the new MultiMedia and Plus video processing engines.

Carbonite ViewControl — available free — is a must see. This new touchscreen control technology integrates Carbonite, XPression Graphics Systems and BlackStorm Playout Servers into a simple and intuitive live user interface. The OverDrive APC system gets even better with a re-engineered newsroom plug-in that streamlines the preparation process, allowing productions to get to air faster, with less effort and fewer mistakes. V14 adds customer driven features like trailing audio support, colour coding to easily identify incoming MOS elements, automated multi-platform publishing, and a remote database option for multi-site production. Inception Social Media

Management enables clients to take control of social media, providing a single tool to create, publish and incorporate content from Twitter, Facebook or the web into productions. V5 rounds out the product with the addition of a one-time search engine and polling support. N3808

Remote view to rent

By Melanie Dayasena-Lowe Camera Corps

DEMONSTRATING A major advance in remote camera control technology is Camera Corps, which is also showcasing its SIMPLY SMPTE compact remote camera link at NAB. The new RF Q-Ball is a complete wireless remote camera system, which can be installed quickly and easily in practically any location. It will initially be available for rental. “Many of our hire service customers are keen to use wireless remote cameras as part of their outside broadcast activity,” commented Camera Corps’ managing director Laurie Frost. “The advantages are obvious but so is the complexity for anyone trying to assemble a practical system from multiple sources. The RF Q-Ball

system gives the operator full control of pan, tilt, zoom and focus, capturing broadcast quality video plus four channels of embedded audio.

Transmission range is more than a mile from the camera, depending on the terrain.” Up to 96 cameras can be operated through a single data

transmitter attached to a standard Camera Corps RCP remote control panel or Joystick panel. In addition, the company will present its SIMPLY SMPTE camera link as part of a complete system. This includes the Q-Ball family of compact all-weather remote pan/tilt/zoom/focus cameras, the 96-channel Multi-Camera Keypad, Standard and Mini Joystick
