orbar Torque Tools is proud to announce the launch of its HandtorqueTM HT-92 and HandtorqueTM HT-119. Ideal for bolt tightening in confined spaces such as wind turbine towers, both the HT-92 and HT-119 combine new materials, better traceability and are the newest additions to Norbar’s new Compact Series of Handtorque TM Multipliers. Key features of the multipliers include a stainless steel body,
N a calibration certificate,
compact dimensions, lower weight and higher torque output. In comparison to the closest existing model from Norbar’s current range, the HT-30, the HT-92 is smaller in diameter (92mm versus 108mm), lighter (5.4 kg versus 7 kg) and has a 1000 N.m higher torque output at 4000 N.m. The HT-119 with fitted reaction plate is 3.2 kg lighter than the HT60, the closest model in the existing Norbar range, but has a 1000 N.m higher torque output at 7000 N.m. The new multipliers are designed to satisfy customer demand for greater traceability.

with the award winning Cube67 or directly via various fieldbus. Due to the compact design of the modules, with up to 32 inputs and outputs, the system provides high channel density in a very small space (Up to 488 I/Os on just 90 centimeters of DIN rail, ensuring flexibility). All Cube20 modules are equipped with maintenance-free, coded plug terminals for typical control cabinet 1-wire connectivity. Cube20 is the next step in economical installation and maintenance. It replaces the numerous individual components in previous control cabinet solutions with only a few modules, making installation easier. This saves costs and offers advantages not only in installation but also with purchasing, inventory, and logistics.

steel casting plant in Rotherham is to save £250,000 a year following the installation of ABB variable-speed drives on its fume extraction system. Completed by ABB system integrator Drives and Automation Ltd for Tata Steel, the project was carried out at the Aldwarke Bloom Caster complex in Rotherham, South
Drives and
Automation replaced existing fixed speed direct-on-line motors in the plant with low voltage motors, controlled by four ABB low harmonic variable-speed drives, two at 400 kW and two at 570 kW. The turnkey project included the supply of transformers, a Form 4 distribution panel, inverter
cubicles, electrical and mechanical installation, plant room ventilation and integration of a PLC /SCADA with the existing plant control system. Phil Banks of ABB says: “Once Drives and Automation won the contract, they had the ability to get on with the job with the minimum of help from ABB, allowing them to complete the job over the shutdown period with no effect on production in the New Year.”

Thorlux and Sapa Profiles Make a Bright Partnership
horlux Lighting has designed a new luminaire specifically for industrial and warehouse applications. The new light fitting uses LEDs as the light source as opposed to the conventional sodium, mercury discharge, or fluorescent lamps, as they have a longer life span and therefore have lower maintenance costs. Thorlux’s new product, the SOLOW LED, has a projected 100,000 hour life, compared with the typical 25,000 hours for traditional lamp sources. The luminaire is built with two aluminium extrusions from Sapa Profiles, which allowed Thorlux to build in a number of design features that address specific issues for the product’s application. The extrusions are designed and fitted together so a hinge runs along the length of the luminaire. Ed George of Sapa Profiles comments “Thorlux has been working at the forefront of lighting and control systems for numerous applications since 1936. They required an innovative solution for this particular application and Sapa Profiles was pleased to work alongside Thorlux to introduce this pioneering product to the market.
