Products Batteries & Chargers Deep cycle cyclic batteries for mobility applications
Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) has launched its new Yu-Power YPC series of batteries offering double the cycle life of conventional cyclic use batteries at 75% depth of discharge (DOD). The new bat- teries are ideal for use in a wide range of applications encompass- ing mobility scooters and mobility aids, electric tools, lawn mowers, power packs, portable apparatus, golf trolleys and golf carts, lighting instruments and solar. Yu-Power YPC series batteries feature low maintenance and valve regulated construction combined with heavy duty plates and separa- tor systems. The new batteries are capable of up to 500 charge/dis- charge cycles ensuring long service life.
Battery electrolyte is retained solidly in the separator and the gas recombining system ensures minimum gas discharge, freeing the user from any maintenance requirements. The plate barrier prevention and separator systems help to ensure deep discharge use, thus con- siderably prolonging the battery service life.
Cyclic use batteries are often left in a discharged state after use and the resultant plate corrosion can lead to shortened life. With a self discharge rate as small as 0.1% per day at 20°C, the Yu- Power YPC range avoids this problem and extends the storage period capability. Ten 12V models are available in the new Yu-Power YPC range
offering higher capacities from the same footprint as standard cyclic batteries. Nominal capacities at 25°C (20hr rate) are 8.5, 13.94, 22, 26, 30, 35, 46.8, 55, 78.7 and 104Ah.
6V model added to high discharge rate range
new 6V model, the SWL2500-6. Well suited for use in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and similar high dis- charge rate applications, the new SWL2500- 6 delivers the same performance as other batteries in the SWL family. Typically, this provides 40% extra discharge capacity com- pared with standard NPL series batteries. The 6V SWL2500-6 features a nominal ten hour rate capacity of 180Ah to 10.8V at 20°C. Standby life expectancy is up to ten years (design life at 20°C).
Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) has added a further battery to its SWL family of industrial valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries with a
The new SWL2500-6 features a UL94HB ABS case material as standard with a flame retardant (FR) option available for UL94V0 applications. The battery can be installed and operated in any orientation except per-
manently inverted. The new battery com- plies with IEC 61056 and IEC 60896-21/22. Case dimensions are 297 x 168 x 231.5mm high with typical mass of 32.5kg. Operating temperature ranges are -15 to 50°C (charging) and -20 to 60°C (discharg- ing). Optimum storage temperature in fully charged condition is from -20 to 50°C. Additional specifications include low self discharge characteristics during storage, maximum discharge current of 1,500A for one second or 800A for one minute and impedance of 3mΩ measured at 1kHz. The new Yuasa SWL2500-6 is available from a range of distributors in the UK. Yuasa Battery Sales

Newly launched Li-ion packs with UN certification
ANSMANN Industrial Solutions has launched a new range of standard Li-ion packs which offer seven different configurations (2,250mAh at 3.7V, 7.4V, 11.1V and 14.8V; 4,500mAh at 3.7V and 14.8V; and 6,750mAh at 3.7V). With ultrasonic welding technology and in-house 3D plotter/cutter, ANSMANN is able to fulfil special battery pack requirements and to produce physical samples without expensive tooling set-up charges. State of the art equipment is also used to provide certification and approval for every battery pack.
The combination of off-the-shelf Li-Ion batteries and 3D plotter tech- nology helps reduce lead time and eliminates the prohibitive upfront costs usually associated with Li-Ion projects.
ANSMANN has a dedicated laboratory for testing Lithium batteries in conformance with UN transport regulations. The UN testing procedure is designed for batteries using Lithium technology. This means that the test can be carried out on batteries from any manufacturer. Once approved, the batteries can be safely transported by land, sea or air. The Lithium batteries are put through up to eight rigorous test proce-
