Food with High Pesticide Spraying: Consume organic only. Apples, celery, sweet bell peppers, peaches, strawberries, nectarines (imported), grapes, spinach, lettuce, cucumbers, blueberries (domestic), potatoes, green beans and kale.
Food with Lower Pesticide Spraying: Conventional is ok. Onion, sweet corn (not highly sprayed but risk of GMO if not organic), pineapple, avocado, cabbage, sweet peas, asparagus, mango, eggplant, kiwi, cantaloupe (domestic), sweet potatoes, grapefruit, watermelon and mushrooms.
(This list is current as of December 2012 and gets updated regularly on the Environmental Working Group website). Produce with a 4 or 5 digit PLU code is labeled beginning with a “9” for organic or beginning with a “4” for conventional.
