T
he Electric Event is the event the industry has been waiting for. Debuting at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Birmingham from 20-22 June 2013, it brings together under one roof the
annual ECA Electrical Industry Conference, an all- new, exciting Technology Live workshop session and Meet the Suppliers exhibition, alongside the annual ECA Gala Dinner, sponsored by Osram and Electrium – featuring, for the first time, the prestigious new ECA Annual Awards. The three-day event is being put together to
showcase the very latest and best the electrical industry has to offer, including cutting-edge technology demonstrations, presentations by key business speakers and industry experts, and valuable technical workshops. Bringing together suppliers, specifiers and
contractors, The Electric Event has been developed by the ECA, in consultation with industry leaders, to provide a high quality, must-visit experience for everyone within the electrical contracting, and wider building services sector. With its accessible location in central England, and built around a flexible format,
Towards the end of the all-day conference, a Q&A forum session with the speakers will stimulate discussion
visitors can choose to attend the whole event – or just drop in for the Technology Live workshops day.
The ICC Birmingham
Bringing it home Bringing the ECA Electrical Industry Conference back to the UK for the first time since 2001 has proved a popular move among ECA members and partners within the industry. Steve Bratt, group chief executive of the ECA, explains: ‘The change in format and location builds on the success of the event held outside of the UK, but offers the opportunity to extend the benefits to a broader audience. The conference abroad has provided an extremely valuable experience for members in the past, and this new format should ensure that key messages, business-critical information, technology updates – and, of course, networking opportunities – are available to as many members as possible.’ The introduction of the Technology Live workshops
– delivered by leading manufacturers – and Meet the Suppliers exhibition will add further value to the experience, with visitors able to view and try out new products, talk through technology with manufacturers and suppliers, enjoy hands-on demos and participate in an extensive range of practical workshops. John Hogan, chief executive of Newey & Eyre,
comments: ‘Against a backdrop of rising fuel prices and mounting legislation, both commercial and consumer gravitation towards energy efficient technologies is gaining pace and fast. It is therefore imperative that those working in the electrical industry stay abreast of the various new products and solutions that are continually entering the market.
