ince the Spice Girls fi rst sang “Goodbye” in 1998 we’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of girl power to the stage. And now, with the help of


Jennifer Saunders and the Spice Girls’ back catalogue, it appears that wait is over. Cue Viva Forever!, the new British musical inspired by the music of Posh, Ginger, Scary et al, which opens on November 27, 2012, in association with the Spice Girls, Simon Fuller and Universal Music. Produced by Judy Craymer of Mamma Mia!


fame, the romantic comedy tells the story of a family thrown into chaos as protagonist Viva and her three best friends – Luce, Diamond and Holly – are swept up in a TV talent show. Craymer says: “T e story is not about the

Spice Girls but rather a contemporary comedy musical with a funny and clever script by Jennifer, which is charged with all the energy and attitude of the girls themselves.


“We’re very excited to be working with such a fabulous group of actors - not only does the cast include some of the most accomplished performers in British musical theatre, but we’ve discovered some wonderful newcomers as well.” Leading the cast is West End newcomer Hannah John-Kamen and Sally Ann Triplett, who will be playing the roles of Viva and her mother Lauren as they are confronted with the fi ckle world of celebrity and its impact on their relationship. Viva’s three best friends (played by Siobhan


Athwal, Lucy Phelps And Dominique Provost- Chalkley) also get swept up in the TV talent show, where stars are born and dreams are shattered at the hands of three judges.
