EV CHARGING POST GIVES ‘ECOLLEGEY’
Two Metric Aura machines installed at Maldon Splash Park
AURAS MAKE BIG SPLASH IN MALDON
A Splash Park installed on the Esplanade by Maldon District Council offers fun features like fl umes and sprayers for children to cool down during hot summer days. To access the park for an hour at a time, children must buy a ticket from one of the two Metric Aura machines and exchange it for a wrist band.
In the height of the summer holidays, both Aura machines issued an average 900 tickets per machine per day, seven days a week. Since then, chip and pin facilities – retrofi tted to one of the machines – have
proved very successful, with more than 50 per cent of all transactions being converted to credit card payment. Installed inside the Splash Park, the machines are only 100 metres from the estuary so ‘there’s loads of water everywhere’, but Maldon District Council’s parking services manager Richard Heard reports the machines are faring well. ‘Since their introduction earlier this year, they have issued more than 100,000 tickets and are going strong – ready to issue another 100,000,’ he said.
